Personal Philosophy

Rhinoplasty and revision rhinoplasty are the most demanding cosmetic procedures performed by plastic surgeons. Every patient's problem is different and requires an individualized approach. This requires the physician to understand the patients concerns regarding the appearance of their nose, analyze the problems, propose solutions that meet the concerns expressed by the patient and the talent and the experience to execute that plan.

Dr. Hart is board certified in a Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose & Throat) and Head and Neck Surgery. He is also Board Certified in Plastic Surgery. This is the only board certification recognized by American Board of Medical Specialties.

Dr. Hart is also fellowship trained in Microvascular Surgery. He has performed numerous microvascular cases both during his training and in his practice. He performed the first thumb replantation at St. John's Mercy Medical Center. He has also performed numerous free tissue transfers. The experience in this training comes into play in rhinoplasty and revision rhinoplasty cases as well. Microvascular surgery requires suturing blood vessels smaller than the filler of an ink cartridge for a pen. The sutures used are finer than a human hair. In microvascular surgery complications and failures result in tissue death which is readily apparent. This surgery requires meticulous technique and judgment. This experience is important in rhinoplasty surgery which also requires meticulous technique, judgment and skill. Excellent results in cosmetic nasal surgery is also a matter of millimeters. Asymmetry and irregularity in nasal contour is measured in millimeters and can be noticed visually.

A rhinoplasty requires concentration, superior technique and aesthetic judgment with an eye for nasal function and the ability to communicate well with the patient. The ultimate result requires judgment in using techniques that will stand the test of time and not become distorted by scar tissue or effect breathing function. Dr. Hart prefers a natural appearance that is in balance with other facial features that doesn't have an operated look.

The ability to sit down and discuss the features that are important with each patient and convey either through drawings or photo imaging what we are trying to achieve is paramount to a successful outcome. Dr. Hart will spend the time with you that you require to achieve these goals.
